Everyone can benefit from education in dance and somatics,
including persons interested in movement and dance, working in
the social welfare and health care sector, and instructing groups and
artists. It is all about harnessing your persona to work as a tool in
instructing others. Discovering your own body language, learning,
and being part of a group are important steps in professional
growth. These skills benefit artists just as much as people
working in the social welfare sector. The course necessarily
involves a social dimension.
ISLO's course is vocational further education for adults, which introduces somatic movement and dance practices and methods, i.e., they combine body and mind and are suitable for use in groups. Somatic methods have a diverse range of applications in society as well as in working and personal life.
The education in dance and somatics emphasizes experimental learning, somatic methods, movement exploration and improvisation, creative processes, and art as a wide-ranging cultural activity.
One of the main themes of the one-year course is to acknowledge and integrate the processes of each individual and the group.
During the course, the students will act as instructors and assistants in various instructional situations and in the arts sector. In the spring term, the students will do two weeks of practical training outside the Institute.
Suitable for people who:
are interested in movement and dance, somatic methods, and creative processes
are interested in movement and dance as art
work in the social welfare, health care, arts, or education sectors
want to gain experiences and skills in instructing groups
are interested in movement and dance therapy or other forms of art therapy
are interested in community and other participatory art forms
Course structure
