On this page you will find everything you need to get your studies off to a smooth start – practical instructions for everyday life, using digital services, useful links, important contact information and student benefits. Take your time to read the instructions – and if you have any questions, help is always available!
Study practices and digital tools
Studying at ISLO mainly takes place as contact study during the upcoming semesters. The central digital platform for studies is Moodle, which you will be instructed on the first day. Important practices and instructions related to studies can be found on these websites and on Moodle, which you will have access to immediately at the beginning of your studies. At the same time, M365 accounts will be created for you, which you will need to use the Microsoft programs in your studies.

Digital student card
As an ISLO student, you get a free digital student card that unlocks thousands of student benefits across Finland. The card conveniently fits on your phone – and for certain courses, it also entitles you to student discounts from Matkahuolto and VR. Take advantage of your benefits and the best student benefits right from the start of your studies!
How to activate your digital student card
As an ISLO student, you are entitled to a free digital student card. With the card, you can redeem thousands of student benefits across Finland. There are two types of cards in use, blue and green. If you have a blue card, it also entitles you to student discounts from Matkahuolto and VR. The Matkahuolto and VR student discount requires that the studies are full-time and last at least 8 months continuously. Persons in apprenticeship training are not covered by the student discount.
Instructions for use:
- Give permission to Slice.fi to process your data by marking the information in Wilma or by reporting the matter by email to opinnot@islo.fi.
- Submit your photo to the same email if ISLO does not already have it.
- You will receive one-time Slice activation code in your email.
- Download the Slice.fi application from your own app store and log in with the credentials you received in your email.
- Your card is ready to use. The card does not need to be renewed separately, it will be in use as long as you are a student.
If you change your phone and want to activate your card on your new phone: You can reset the activation codes at www.slice.fi/resetoi. Enter your email address (which is linked to your student card ID), and you will receive a link shortly, by clicking on which you will soon receive new activation codes.
